I was wondering if anyone knew of some trails in the Orange/Sullivan County regions? I live near Monticello, and I'm trying to find some legal trails without success. Maybe some of you could help me out. Thanks!

hey green, good to see someone local. I'm right next door in liberty. far as trails go, I know of a few fire/seasonal maintenance roads, but beyond that there isn't too much around here that i know of. most of it is out near grahamsville in catskill park. waiting for the snow to get here to do some snow wheeling as some of them have decent hill climbs that should prove more challanging when things get slippery. if you want to go out sometime let me know. I'm usually free weekends.

it is if your a younger guy and you talk to the owner, since its so close to the school the owners basically give anyone permission if you go talk to them for five minutes, there really nice people and the land is basically a redneck playground

of Ways that are abandoned but public lands. Pretty cool places. Have to set-up a ride there sometime... Lots of Rocks and Mud....Let me know when you might be interested..There's plenty there for a good day's ride..

I think i have hit that trail in Ellenville - nice long up a smallish mountain and all...
Then again, it was many moons ago.
Someone please email me a reminder where to find it.

If it's the trail I'm thinking of I doubt you could make it with a stock Wrangler.. I ran it last summer with my Zook Fully locked and lifted and did alot of winching to get it back out. It's really washed out and pretty steep. I seem to remember smelling alot of Clutch material being ground up too.... :lmao: Expect lots of body damage there as well...Grahmsville however is really cool...You might like that area better...

I'm new here but when i was donig a little reading I found this thread about grahamsville. I've been in the jeep community for a while but haven't done any wheeling yet in that area. It really struck my attention because my family has a house in grahamsville that my grandfather built in 1956. I'd love some information on where these trails are and if my currently stock wrangler could handle them. Thanks so much
I also drive through ellenville to get there so anything there would be nice too
PMs if neccesary
Thanks

I live up in monticello about an hour from you. I have some trails around here I just got permission to use. I haven't checked them all out, but there is a fair share of trails along various power lines. it makes for a fun afternoon...

As soon as I finish my trans swap and get some new shoes I am up for a trail ride. My buddy has 25 acres in westtown that the pipeline goes through. I will ask him for permission to do some wheeling....it is by the Tamaqua bar if any of you know where that is.

I'm in Newburgh, closer to Marlboro, and got some friends in Wallkill and Beacon and we are always looking for places to wheel. Anyone been up Mt Beacon?

Years ago, before it got shut down. Wheeling up there is illegal, unless you have written permission. The wrong people catch you up there and you will have some serious fines.
Best bet is to join a club and then have access to thousands of acres of private land throughout New England.
