there are sets you can get that are specifically designed to match the bolt pattern that's holding your front bumper on. I would get a set of them to put up front. as for the rear, a common place to put one is on the side of the frame rail just in front of the rear shackles. I have one there and it works just fine. as for welding them on, i wouldn't recommend it. if one breaks for some reason you want to be able to replace it without taking the grinder to it, and besides, these are probably high strength alloys that might be heat treated. welding on them could compromise their strength. not really sure of that, but since grade 8 bolts work just fine, why take a chance :wtg:

what sentinal said is correct, most hooks are heat treated, and exposing them to the heat generated by welding will definitely compromise strength.

Like everyone said, bolt on front hooks are $10. Look for ones with 3 holes on the hook, and you should be come. You don't even have to drill the frame to fit them. There are threaded holes under the plastic frame cover on the front of the frame.

In the rear, I've used a piece of 4x4 angle iron along the rear frame crossmember. I bolted a tow hook with 2 holes on the middle of it.

Don't weld them. Just don't. :D
