I have composed a list of mods people have posted on various boards all over the net. I thought it would be nice to compile a central list of these helpful tips.

here's a few:

Jeep specific:

flip your intake tube on the front of the air box 180°. this will put your draw point up about 4 or 5" higher than it was meaning less of a chance of sucking in water during crossings. cost: free

wire in relays to your headlights to allow direct power from the battery. the result is brighter lights. cost: ~$25 for relays and wire (may apply to other vehicles)

15 gal to 20 gal gas tank mod. cut the breather tube of the tank shorter to allow you to fill the tank to full capacity. applies only to 92 (?) and up jeeps with this tank. cost is free.

make a set of defroster vent deflectors for your jeep (YJ specific):

cost: ~$20 or less depending on how much steel you buy

Non jeep specific:

reroute your breather lines on the axles, tranny and t-case higher to keep them out of deep water. cost: ~$10 for longer breather lines.

dielectric grease all of your under hood connections and wrap in friction tape for waterproofing reasons. cost: ~$5 in grease and tape costs

create a set of storage boxes for small tools and parts. something like this:

cost: ~$15-50 depending on the box size

create a waterproof auxilary fuse box for your CB, Stereo, off road lights, driving lights, etc. or/and a quick connect block for removable electronics. something like this:

cost: ~$25 for holders, box and wire.

get a set of clips for your mag light and screw them to your dash/floor/door etc to keep the flashlight handy

cost: ~$5 bucks for the clips

hmmm, that's all i can think of at the moment
