matts driveshaft is on back order

matt got a call from joe saying his sye and drive shaft are on back order till prob monday, so he was worried he wasnt going to be able to take his jeep since he didnt have an sye so i said hey that rock looks pretty big go try and flex on it and see if the driveshaft falls out :lol:

turns out his drive shaft is fine so he should be able to bring it this weekend, and what would this thread be without pics

those things hanging are his sway bar discos incase anyone asks, looks like his rear springs are still quite a bit stiff since they have like maybe 1k tops on them, and i hope the ppl across the street dont mind we used their rock LOL it fell in the street off their rock wall anyway so

how hard is it to get it back in once it drops aka to make the drive home without having to use 4x4 and just use front tires

Well if it pops out. Just unbolt it from the axle then slide it back in and rebolt it. Hopefuyl you dont bent your output shaft or wrech the splines. I would becareful thats for sure.

well the only way i can mess up the splines is if im driving along and the shaft drops, so i think before i go on the trip i am going to fab up something so that if the driveshaft pops outta the sye it will fall onto a catcher so i don't have to worry about it hitting the ground, like the guys do with drag racing.
time to fab up one more thing untill my wonderful sye comes in

yeah ill be picking up the sye and ds at the same time, but it won't be untill monday or tuesday and im wheeling saturday if it kills me so i gotta rig something up for the time being

If you are not steering correctly. Like its not even left to right then you might need a dropped one.

My buddy has been running a 4.5" lift with no SYE for a year now and has no problems. You shouldn't have anything to worry about. But if the driveshaft comes out and you can't get it back in you won't be driving home in front wheel drive. You will be leaking fluid from the rear output of the transfer case.

so im sitting here trying to figure out what i want to do because i need to regear both my front and rear but i also wanna do lockers
im trying to decide whether to do aussie lockers or go with the arb air lockers i really can't decide
arb air lockers are big money but very nice
also i don't know what i should regear to b/c i wanna go to 33's sooner or later but im on 31's now, but if i really bit this wheeling thing i might go 35's but who knows so i dunno how i wanna gear lots of undetermineds
just can't wait to go on saturday tho

Matt what lift kit do you have from those pics it looks like a RE? You need to keep you track bar in line with your drag link so they are at the same angle. If you post a pic I can give you a better answer.

he has the re kit, 4.5" it is a really sweet kit, i dont think he needs a pitman drop, the trackbar and the draglink kinda run right next to each other, and he has no probs steering. i dont think you need one till you get up over 5" or so.

ill try to get a pic today when i get home and upload it just to make sure.
