Alright I am in the market for a welder. I know there is tons of info on this. But I want your guys word on this one for me. I know how to weld and I dont want anything too cheap. I really like the Lincoln 3200HD mig/flux welder. Its great because I can use either flux or MIG (with gas). But somethign in that range and any company. Let me know your thoughts on which one to get. I am mostly looking for a used one too because I cant get the cash for a fresh new one. Thanks! :P

MIG 3200hd where did you see that I never heard of that one before.

Any mig welder can do flux core or solid core wire. I would select a welder that will weld the material you plan on working with. I have 4 different welders all for several different purposes and types of metal to be welded. It is also important to check the duty cycle on the machine.

Make sure you buy a quality name brand welder. The difference in the quality of the weld is amazing between cheap no-names and miller/lincolns. I've always been a big fan of miller welders. I have a millermatic 175 (runs on 220v) and I've owned a 135 (runs on 110v). I bought mine on ebay from a guy who tried it once with flux core only and decided he couldnt weld. If you are new to welding flux core will only frustrate you when you try to make a nice looking weld. I only use the flux core wire when i run out of gas and need to finish a weld.
Heres a quick ebay tip- save your ebay search in your favorites/bookmark tab so you can quickly bring-up the search page and keep checking the new listings for someone who listed a low buy-it-now price and grab it before someone else does. That way your not competing with other bidders who know what the item is worth. I got my welder this way for 1/2 the retail price and countless other items too.

I would only buy lincoln or Miller :) Miller is very expensive but you get what you pay for. I like the Miller 125 and the 175. I dont think I can get a 220 line into my garage and the 125v will be great for portablity. Hmm the search goes on.

That model lincoln is only availible at Home Depot It is similar to one of the ones I have acording to the specs. That will only weld 3/16 in a single pass w/ gas shielding. you can do 1/4 in single pass w/ inncore wire. The way the word the advertisements is deciving. I think I got mine for less I will talk to my welding supplier. I am almost posative they had that Lincoln sale this month.

Justin, you can weld truck frames with the 135 110v miller. You just have to have some experience and make multiple passes.
