This the deal, I will orginse this trip. tomorrow my wife and i are going out to the pines. We are going to map out the route to the camping spot. everyone should like the spot it is a big open area with a dispersion of trees. the camping area looks to hold at least 50-60 campsites. it is on a bluff overloking a meandering stream. you could probably catch a fish or 2 if you have the magic touch. we have a bunch of camping stuff ourselves. food issue is the key. if everyone can agree on what to eat saturday night and sunday morning, it sound like almost everyone has a coleman stove, cooking should'nt be a problem. the ones who don't that ok, thats why we're a club we take care of our own. once we agree what we want to eat then we break it down to who's bringing what. I always open to suggestions if someone knows of a better way. this is an area that i have had a little experiance. used to take tourists in Michigan hunting, fishing, and camping in the backwoods. i will also go to the ranger station and find uot what we need to know and have. i dont know if i left any thing out, if i did please post it so we can adress the issue.
flippy71
05-13-2005, 11:15 PM
if anybody else is gonna be out there tomorrow i will be running channel 12 just incase
I would say bring your own food for yourself and share if you want. I mean I always share my cooler and food to anyone that wants it. I wotn be packing much. Maybe hamburger or two and some bacon and eggs and beverages.

flippy71
05-14-2005, 07:06 AM
the ranger station is on your left, i'm guestamating that it ia 10-15 miles from hammonton. not sure i'll take an odometer reading and give you milage, when you are close you will see a lake on you left w/ metal guard rail, than derctly across is the atsion state park. hope this helps Rick

hey there fella's just got back from the pines what a great day. dust, mud, sunshineand more mud. this the deal about camping, 2 vechiles per site,$15 a site. i figure minimum 2 people $7 bucks a piece and we can have camp fire. the site looked great today, boyscouts were ther camping. once we get a definate count i will call it in. must be paid before to garantee spots or we can just wing it and show up. there also uneproved camp sites but i just figured it wuold be nice to have water for cooking or whatever and a throne to get rid of it  any questions? please ask
Scott and I will take a slot I think. He is so hard to get in contact with... damn cell phone. Anyway sounds cool to me. One slot for sure so far.

But its friggin awesome. And there are less worries at Paragon.

less wories then what?...i put a mall dent in my oil pan last time..paragon it awsoem...but when your trying to go to europe this summer and trying to by a new laptop for skool, wheeling can take a back seat.
Less worries as in legal and safty. If you dont leave the park when they close they go looking. But yes when you dont have money then take the back seat. I know when gas prices hit $3 then I am done driving. Hopefully my job wont be too far away for my parents to give me a ride. Wheel maybe once a month tops.

well, even though the pines arent as much fun, i think its safe enough as long as you go with a few rigs
Oh yea we will have no issues. Scotts got OBA and tons of tools. I have tools and everyone I think has recovery crap. We wont have a winch I dont think unless badzook has his. But we will be good.

OK OK.....
You guys are killing me here....I'll take the plunge and say I'm in .....
I'll bring my winch and recovery gear and my sleeping bag...
There is no way the Zook would be ready by then so I'll do it in the J**p.
I'll set-up and lead a caravan from the north. I'll be traveling down route 206 all the way from Ross's Corner. Actually from 565 in Sussex... Any body that is interested just let me know ...Bring your Cb's and lots of tow straps we'll need 'em.. Everybody bring whatever recovery equipment you have.
10 am at the ranger station is fine with me. Just be advised that we will see alot of traffic on the way down and could be a bit late. This is like a 3.5 hour trip for me....
Check your rigs for waterproofing especially the diff's . Run those vent lines up high. I use clear vinyl tubing so I can see if thev've been contaminated.. There's lots of deep water down there and lotsa sand...
flippy71 would you work more with wrangler in setting up the details? It sounds like you're pretty familiar with this area. I haven't been there in a while and things tend to change...
We can exchange cell numbers by PM later...
I'm not interested in leading this event just trying to help and will bring up the rear and spot if you guys want me to.
I have GPS and Detailed topo maps of the area so we can get lost all you want ...
Any more input is welcomed..

I am not goign in deep holes... I dont want to clean the diffs out like I had to last time... plus I have a nice fresh u-joint :). I dont go any deeper then my doors right now (Bottom of door :)). 8) This could be interesting if it is all just deep holes... I know its all sand I have been in that area with my dirtbike back when I first started. It will be fun either way :)
Hopefully the camp sites will all be in the same area. Do we have to reserve these slots? If so I know Scott and I will take one. Probally 3 slots by my count...

I'm with you xeon. I am NOT dunking my rig.. I use it everyday as a work vehicle and cannot afford to be without it. I guess you could say I won the dunking award on the last run I was on. There is tons of wheeling to do without "swimming" too. Lots of go arounds..

hey there, ok the name of the camping area is called Hawkins Bridge campnig area. It has 50 camp sites. when we meet up at at the Atsion entrance we will travel through the park to the otherside. over to the ranger station at the batstoe. 10-15 minute ride,if you have been there you know what im talking about. we only have to fill out one form for the group. i already spoke to the rangers and we are good to go once i register our group. then all we have to do is basically is decide whos camping where. 1 site 2 vechiles, my and the wife are going up friday so we can set up our tent and stuff. if i can get a definate count on how many sites we need i will pay for it then you guys can pay me when you get there. i'm not rich so please dont screw me over  and badzook i'll send you my #. PS we will also need a camp mate at our site also.
One for sure (Scott and I) I am sure atleast 2 more. We have wrangler, flendo, badzook and yourself flippy. Hope thats right.
flippy71
05-17-2005, 06:01 PM
good start. figure 2 rigs per site, the amount of people is not an issue the ranger said. so i guess that means if wanted to we could stuff 20 people in each rig and unload like the seams on a fat chicks pants if we wanted

gotcha, you were included in the original 9 :D
Just got off the phone with Flippy and he said its going to cost $1 per person to go camping. So its going to be real dirt cheap to wheel and camp. I am goign to bring food and stuff for myself and I think everyone should get everything for themself and more to share if they want. It will make things easier and we wont have to make a huge list of what to get and whos paying for what. I am sure you know what I mean.

Not bad, I did find a few more SM roads, but nothing 2wd couldn't handle. i was thinking though that a lot of these roads would make some great winter wheeling once we get some snow up here. they're still ok for a scenic day trip/BBQ/meet and greet deal, but so far I haven't come across anything challanging. Add some snow though and Moore hill will turn into a nice play trail, and the connection between it and Denman Mt would make for one wicked hill climb. Just gotta set it up after the first 1 or 2 big storms so we don't have to break through those 4 ft snow banks. I didn't get a chance to check out Spencer though, after i decided to check out Slide mt. in case it proved accessible. check out the summary here:

I just got finished doing my diffs partly because of this weekend, partly because it had never been done in 89k, and partly because i wanted to go synthetic. No contamination whatsoever in both my axles. I was pleasantly surprised. :D
badzook

I wouldn't use Synthetics.. It causes all of the seals to start leaking and if you run a locker or LSD It'll cause serious problems.. Just thought you should know.. Lots of vendors will void your warranty if you use it... I would rather change the Gear Oil more often. It gives me a chance to keep an eye on it too..

Yea dont waste your money on Sythacrap its really only good on nice expensive motors and cars. I put it in my Jeep and it started leaking like hell. I will only put the cheapest stuff in it for now on. Its not worth the money and at the rate I am changing my fluids I will be hopefully saving money. Get 80 weight gear oil for the diffs. Hope this helps!

You Know... I was thinking today.... You might want to pull your diff covers and check Trans T/c etc.. I would check all of your fliuds for contamination.. You were in pretty deep for awhile...
