View Full Version : Each outing we should have...
Well now that we have a few wheeling trips under our sleeve. Lets make a trail list of stuff we need for repairs.
A few large ones I can think of are:
Alternator/Fresh Battery
Radiator Fluid
AIR
BFH (Big Frigging Hammer)
U-Joints
Spare Axle parts
Fluids for everything on your Truck
Food and Drink (Dont forget that one :))
Add things that you think atleast one person should have to help out.

sounds like a good list... I would also recomend fix a flat because it seals the tire and will atleast get you home. Most of the time air will not fix the problem.

How about the all fixing Bungee Straps to go along with the duct tape. Ratchet type cargo straps might be good also, ya never know.
I have a fire extinguisher mounted on the sport bar.

that's one of the big reasons battery tie downs are a must, but the battery isn't the only thing that can cause a fire. rupture the fuel tank or pop a fuel line and you end up with a dangerous spill, electrical shorts, hot exhausts sitting over dry grass, etc. the price of a few extinguishers is cheap insurance, the bigger the better.
as far as tools go, I always bring a lot more than the basics. flare nut wrenches, flaring tool, electrical meter, a whole kit of electrical repair connectors, specialty size sockets for the hub nut and t-case fill plugs, torx bits, shallow and deep sockets both SAE and metric, external torx sockets, allen wrenches, tie rod fork, small gear puller, soldering iron (i have a power inverter), propane and MAPP torches, u-joint adaptors for the ratchets, enough extensions to make about 12" (ever try to do a CPS sensor on a cherokee?), a large C-clamp for brake work, punches, Bolt out extractors (if you don't have these get some, they're great), assorted vice grips, small and large pry bars, torque wrench, and a few spring clamps (good for clamping hoses shut to keep the fluid in while working on them). all in all I pack a good portion of a garage full of tools.

I always like to carry a cordless drill, extra batts and bits along. You never know when it will be needed.
