I hope to be gettting an 8.8 soon for my 95 YJ and wanted to get some info on anyone who did the brakes lines for these axles or anyone that knows about installing brake lines.
As far as I know I am going to get a new extended YJ line from the frame to a new "T" splitter, then out of that a small piece of 3/16 hard line to the driver side caliper hose. And out the other side of the "T" with a longer hard line to the passenger side caliper hose. Let me know if this sounds about right.
Now for the hard line should I use aluminum, steel or stainless steel?
I am told its best to double flare instead of single flaring the line and stainless steal doesn't double flare and aluminum disipates heat better.
Also anyone know of any places I could get a good cutter, bender and double flaring tool for a good price or possibly rent them?
Thanks

when I did my 8.8 I used my yj extended line into the yj block than ran the driver line into the block and purchased another driver side caliper hose for the passenger side and ran a hard line from that into the block. Steel line is a 45 deg. double flare and stainless uses a 37deg single flare.

Is a single flare safe? I was advised against it.
So if I get a stainless line get a 37 degree tool and 45 degree if its steel or aluminum?

The stainless only uses a single flare but with steel deffinately use a double flare. I've never had problems with steel lines and thats what I always use. I live on Long Island and I'm surrounded by salt water and I never have a problem with them rusting. The steel lines are more unaversal and I've found them to be easier to work with.

i double flare all mine, not hard with the tool you rent from autozone.
I will be redoin my 8.8 brake lines in the next few weeks, I'll be running an extended frame to axle line, style like stock xj/yj/tj/zj, a hard line over the pumpkin to the ps hose to caliper, drivers side 8" or so of hard line ot a second ps hose to caliper

Hey does autozone rent a double flare tool, cutter and bender? HOw much? Or how much to just buy too?
Hey do the soft ford caliper lines come with banjo bolts on the one end and the other connector (that connects to the hard line) on the other end? Are they already on them or do you have to purchase them separtely and put them on?

the connect for the banjo bolt and for the hard line are already on there, they normally come with crush washers too, mine didnt come with banjo bolts

what can be done to secure the hard line to the axle and also the caliper end mounting tab?

i just used hose clamps to hold it against the axle, works good, my buddy passed inspection a few times with just zipties securing it.

I was looking to get extended YJ lines from the frame to the splitter.
Who makes a good line? I was looking at Russell & Crown Industrial.

get a rubbe rone for a 4wd square body style dakota from my research they are over 2 feet long.
Here's what i'll be running when i get done with everything.
from ifs chebby caliper to extension hose + extension, for front hoses, pretty common to find a good set 25" long
rear dakota one
I'm justnot a fan of stainless hoses

I am getting a 3.5 or 4" lift. Should I get an extended SS line that is for 4.5 - 6" of lift in case I ever go bigger? Or will there be too much slack?

shouldnt be too much slack, i'd much rather too much than too little with stainless lines they dont like being stretched to the limit
