Well from what im gathering DWG area seems to be the central locale....
we need to poll the masses to find out what kind of attendence we could expect before i make any phone calls to camp grounds....
What is everyone thinking about as far as rough date for this??? may? june? july?

my question was though with this gathering is does it have to center around wheelin?
yes red ridge is next to paragon...so is sandy valley campground (i think this one is still open)...
i dont know what the right answer is here....
that wasnt what i was thinking but the event isnt for me specificlly...i dont want to put something together and everyone say it was a bad idea....it sucked....etc.
Unless we want to just make one main bi-annual event with wheelin at paragon/rausch and a day of bbq/swap meet/ show shine etc.
check out www.zuwharrie.com these guys with the samurai crowd do a bi-annual event down in NC and it has really taken off. izook.com does ZookiMELT every year as an annual event and its huge.
the early bronco crowd does 2 events but they change locale's. they do one at paragon and one at tellico,nc.
i guess what im saying is the monthly thing can keep going, but do those on a more informal level as they have been. and actually organize a larger event to be annual or semi-annual if thats the direction you guys want to go.
my thoughts for the BBQ was do just that...kinda like a meet,n,greet/car show/swap meet thing. you could even link it to some kind of charity drive (i.e. toys for tots). the brocno crowd does just this with the Annual Bloomsburg,Pa Four Wheel Jamboree. Its a group gathering but not for wheeling....just a show and shine thing. yu know if there is enougn interest you could even hold it in a more public place. how many people out there actually look at our rigs as toys? its kind of funny..i had a 4-5yr old kid look at my zuk one time and tug on his moms shirt and say "hey mommy look...a monster truck!!"
that was pretty cool i thought....some of our dedicated trail rigs resemble monster trucks..would be cool to get them out into the public's eye.
sorry..im rambling...
anyway...i think that all had a point....
opinnions?

i think we should just make this particular BBQ as a meet and greet event. we can do informal bbq's when we go to paragon to, but i like the idea of at least one event for the year where we get together for something other than wheeling. when we wheel the hardcore guys and the ones closer to stock tend to split up so it will give everyone a chance to mingle more, and an excuse to clean their rigs  if it gets a good turn out we can plan on it every year, maybe get some raffles going, invite the public, etc.

Im down with just a BBQ event ....a good and free place will be Bear Mt. in NY not to far from North Jersey in the 7 lakes area , we have plenty of parking by a creek and some tables are set up also ....after that we can drive around all the way to the lookout on the top of mountain , just a nice mild day of eating and talking.
A nice BBQ and ride event will be for a summer ride to Roush Creek , after the 1st day of wheeling camping out and a nite BBQ to get ready for the 2nd day of wheeling...my 0.2cents

I thought about Bear mt too, but looking at this map (which i had over in the members only area, but i'll put it here to so new members can see as well)

most of the club member locations seem to be northern NJ, with a scattering of other members to central PA and LI with a few in central NY. the blue dots are active members (at least 1 post) and the purple are members who have yet to post anything but listed a location. the red triangles are suggestions made in the other threads and the square is the "central" location that splits the difference between LI, and central PA/NY based on milage. it's located in the south end of the Deleware Water Gap rec region so there should be a few places to choose from as well as campgrounds for those who would want to camp out if they've got a long ride. Mt Minsi and Mt Tammany (both close to 1500 ft elevations) are both there and have hiking, biking and all the usual state park activities in the area. there's several picnic areas in region as well. here's a map of the DWG park:
http://data2.itc.nps.gov/parks/dewa/ppMaps/DEWAmap1%2Epdf
and just as a side note, deleware state forest is near by there and has ATV trails. not sure about 4x4's but if you want to bring your bikes then it might be worth making a weekend out of it.

my thoughts were the first weekend in june...5-6th
I was also leaning toward the DWG area....
i think at this point we need to start a count as to who would show up. that we i can start getting prices on campground...pig...etc.
its going to cost everyone a small amount just to cover the pig and supplies. im thinkin maybe $10 a person BUT that would be subject to change (+/-) depending on how many people commit to showing up.
i think now is the time to start polling and taking names to see who is going to show up....just some preliminary numbers so i know what to tell these campgrounds to expect.
ill put up a post just a counter...

I would like this event to be on the second weekend of June, 11th-12th. It should be nice weather and it will be after the monthly ride at paragon. Also, my daughter's 1st birthday is June 5th and my 31st birthday is June 6th so needless to day I will not be able to go if it was the first weekend in June.
