On a lot of the slant 6 sights they use a carter or a holly 2280 carb when building a super six. Has any one tried to use this carb for a 258? apparently they are the same bolt pattern and very similar, the 2280 has no electronic stepper. From what I have read they were last used on mid 80's slant 6 and 318, so engine size is about right, and cfm is about 240-250 which makes it about right.
Thoughts are that this could make a more reliable alternative to the carter BBD than a rebuild or replace with BBD, I could still use stock air cleaner and pulse air tubes to help with emissions since my jeep is a daily driver, and visual inspection would be easy to pass as well if some one really knew what they were looking at at the station. It's also 1/2 the price because you don't have to change any thing else and a rebuilt one goes for 150-200 dollars on the web.
Has anyone had any experience with this carb or even used it on a 258 engine?
