Soon it will be time for tires on the TJ. I’m having a hard time deciding which tires to buy. I want another set of 35’s but I probably won’t be buying Goodyear mtr’s again. They work great off-road but are very loud on the street. New they measured 33 ¾ “ tall with 25psi in them (definitely not 35”). They are wearing faster than I had hoped also. If this was not my dd I would consider a set of 37” mtrs (about 36” tall). Because I drive a lot of miles on the highway a week I have to consider tire wear and noise. I am thinking of buying another set of swamper ssr radials in the 35” size. The last set of 33’s I had were quiet on the road and awesome off-road. They actually measured close to 33” and after a couple of thousand miles had not shown any wear! I have owned bias ply swamper tsl tires in many different sizes over the years and although I have gotten good wear out of them they are not practical for a rig I drive in all week at 75mph.
Just wondering if you guys would share your thoughts on the tires you have owned and how they performed on/off-road. Also the # of miles you got out of them.
Thanks,
al

Scott has had good luck with those TRXUS MT's. He has the 31's and they are about 32" tall a true 31". They are cheap and they dont wear bad at all. They are not loud on the road as I remeber. Nothing unbearable. Hope this helps. Those tires are like $100 each and thats not bad at all for a good tire as you saw from the PAP trip... he never got stuck! :D

Hope this helps! 8)

Al,

I had BFG ATs on my Zuk back in the day and they were quiet and it was hard to tell wear on these even after 15k on it (sold the truck). They were good in wet and snow but they are not the most aggressive off road. Right now I have generic MTs (31") on my 02 TJ. I didn't want to drop heavy coin on tires that I knew I would be upgrading in not too long. I bought Pepboys brand Futura Enforcer MT (actually made by Cooper) and at about $90 each they have worked very well for me. They are not that loud at all and wear well with rotation. That being said, I would suggest BFG MTs. They are not the cheapest tire but I think they have extra sidewall protection. I am going to 33s next but when I go to 35s, I will be getting them. HTH

I think you're right. I liked my ssr's better. I had the 33's and they were a good compromise on and off road. I have a 10" rim. I like the 13.50 or 14.50 wide tires so I have less of a chance of blowing a bead at low pressure on the 10" rim. I'm interested If you would like to get me a price on them.

thats why they were short cause the rims were to wide. those MTR's like narrow rims. 8 inch max I have 37's on 8 inch rims. I will send that tire price

With about 50% tread on 10" rims they measure 33 1/4 tall with 25psi on my jeep. The spare is brand new and measures 33 3/4 tall on an 8" rim. I think they run small. I may be interested in the 37" if they run small too. Would you have a measurement on them?

I have 35"SSRs and they measure just a hair under 35" Id call it a true 35x12.50. I run them on a 15x8
