Full hydro or assist?

They are both streetable. But I would go with assist for daily driving trucks. However, I dont have any experience with full hydro.

I still have not seen in print the legality of full hyrdo. Every thread I have read the people who claim its illegal cant prove it.

Nowhere is it written that you cannot use full hydro on the street. My Jeep has full hydraulic steering and I have had it up to highway speeds (65-70ish) safely and comfortably a couple of times. Would I recomend it on a regular basis? No. There is no return to center and no road feel. It is also very sensitive in the center because there is no gear lash like in a steering box.

Basically get a trailer, and then an orbital valve.

Actually I does not say you can't use hydraulic steering but what it does lay out in the national dot rule for vehicle in the us is that the steering wheel must be connected via mechanical linkage to the steering wheels on all highway approved vehicles that travel over 15 mph. ( meaning a resisted and drivable passenger vehicle) so you would be able to see hydraulic steering in commercial construction and farm vehicles that cannot be driven on the road as a passenger vehicle but maybe for transportation purposes but that even different all together they can only travel a short distance and so on.

To make it simple you cannot drive a vehicle on the road that connects the steering wheel to the steering wheels via hoses only. Don't do it you are putting your life and other peoples life's at risk.
