Winter Wrench Fest [Archive]

Anyone interested in a Wrench Fest? I am hoping to get a few things done with group knowledge.

Sometime in the next month or two. Lets gather a date on a weekend.

I would like to get a few things done:
Install gears, lockers, and brakes. Front and rear
If my frame is not finished, hopefully get that done.

Then lots of food and beverages. I will rent a propane heater for the garage.

Any input or ideas?

If this one goes well, I would like to have one in March to make my cage.

just pull the whole axle out and bring that inside. then you can have another jeep in there and do the gears at the same time. 8 ubolts and a couple brake lines. :wtg:

His XJ has a few more bolts then that :).

If you doing gears in that 14 bolt someone better bring a set of nuts to set the crush sleve.:smile:

I am thinking Feb 3rd into the 4th if people are interested.

Let me know if you can make that date. We can always change it. By then, I should have a new welder and 220v in the garage :wtg:

I got a kerosene heater I could probably bring. I might have a couple things to get done to the XJ by then.

The goals for the weekend:
Gear and lock D60 and 14B
Finish welding my frame. Need to make brackets and braces.

That should keep us busy...

Torque wrench, big sockets for it, dial indicator, and any other gear setup tools... You going to drag Mike with you? We wont be able to play with the motor and trans I dont think... Unless we get a lot done!

spanner wrench (for the 14 bolt), H press, inch pound torque wrench with a dial not a click type, a case spreader, side seal installer,large pipe wrench, a plastic tipped hammer, bearing / seal drivers, and a bearing spliter.

those are the other tools you will need to complete a gear install good luck

Didnt get much done... Got the 14B all torn down, cleaned up, and ready for gears. That is, when I get a new carrier. Turns out the 14B had a gov lock in it. So I have to find an open carrier for 4.10 gears. I think someone has one for me.

Thanks Al for all your help!

Hopefully we can get another wrench fest together soon. I am pretty booked for the rest of the month. Any ideas would be great.
