hey i need new rings but the problem is i only need a set of rings for one piston and i dont know how to tell what size i should get since i had to hone out the cylinder a tiny bit. and measuring is so precise im afraid to get the wrong size and how to tell what size to use.. when i measured it i got 3.916 with a micrometer.. does that sound accurate enough and what size rings should i use to get a nice fit? sorry im such a dumbass when it comes to engines :duh:

If you just honed the cylinder then stock size rings will be correct. If you bored out the cylinder, which would require a machine shop, then you will need new ones.
BTW, why did you only hone one piston?
oh why oh why oh why.... didnt you just put my hole motor in instead of screwing around swapping one of the pistons out...

i honed out only one cylinder because i only had one piston siezed up and it put small gouge in the wall.. so i only honed wat needed to be honed but i was being cheap and didnt get new rings and put in used ones so thats why im looking for rings...
You may run into oil consumption and or even compression problems with the 1 cylinder that is honed out with new rings.

how much honing did you do? it's only meant to scuff up the walls so there isn't a mirror finish on them. did you go to town here? what type of hone did you use. the 3 stone type, or the toilet brush ball type?

it was the 3 type not a ball hone.. and it was only a quick few seconds with a real quick up and down motion and it did the trick

OK, i'd just throw in stock rings and be done with it. the gouge couldn't have been too bad. just make sure you install the rings properly when you do it. :wtg:

i'd go to a rebuilder, machine shop, or the dealer
