I had one in my YJ and will have one when I put my 305 in. It worked fine for me. Some people dont have as much luck though... right Scott?

Oh WTF, why is the time off again! Grr.

I have a electric fan I want to put in my YJ. Was wondering if I can get away with just the electric and eliminate the clutch fan, or if I should just run both. The jeep is only used on trails, so there is no highway driving or A/C to run. I'm thinking the electric might pull better at idle speeds.

you'll need to set the electric up as a pusher in order to use both. the rad's just not wide enough. I'm running the Mark VIII out of a taurus and it cools just fine, even on the low speed setting. should be fine for a trails only rig. or you can pick up a nice shiny new one from a parts store. they pull less amps than the taurus version, but they cost more to replace if you fry them.

I ran a 16" spal fan in my YJ with the 350 and it keep it about 190* the whole time on the trails.

I have a single 18" flex-a-lite fan from Summit and a 190* thermostat. It stays around 200-210 on the trail which is where I want it. Highway it runs slightly cooler due to no fenders.

Cool, I have a new unit from a '00 - '03 durango, dakota. It is a puller and they use it as a backup to the clutch fan and to increase AC output, but they blow like hell, so I think I will be fine. Now I just need to make an electric t-stat and relay setup. The factory supplies it with 40A, so I'll make sure I stick to that.

electric fans are good but whenever posible I like the use of a engine driven clutch fan. you can not match the amout of cfms they draw through the rad. electics are too noisy for my liking.
