Need Help!!! County Lands to be Gated

Some of the local environmental groups have proposed to our Township Solicitor to Gate the access to county owned coal roads to deter illegal dumping.

I have started a petition against the motion, and would apreciate your support.

Suggestion... (may have already done this or may be in the process...) get your club and/or other area clubs to band together and volunteer to clean up the dumped "stuff"... It may be alot, but as you are probably aware... wheelers are rather resourceful and can find a way to do it... :wink: If you need ideas, have questions on how to handle it... just ask... We've done many up here in our neck of the woods.

Keep us posted and when you get it set, take pix and do a write up... I can give you some addy's to send it to... like at Blue Ribbon Coalition, etc.
Make sure the local papers/media know about it too... If they don't show for ya, hit the papers with letters to the editor asking why they didn't cover the story and giving the story as well.

Well mother nature strikes again...we were supposed to have the clean up this weekend, but with all the snow, it makes it too unsafe. However, we rescheduled it to March 12th, so if anyone is iterested in volunteering, please shoot me an email.

I almost forgot, my brother in-law runs the live truck for a major station upstate NY (albany) so I might be able to help anyone out trying to get a story on the news up there. Just shoot me a PM if anyone needs me.

The land we are concentrating on first is located near Shamokin, PA. This area is basicly county owned coal lands that has been abused by illegal dumpers. There is enough garbage in the area to keep us busy for quite some time.

We will be meeting at the Shamokin Walmart at 9:00am on the 12th to get staged and organized before we head to the clean-up site.
