Ok so I just got the truck out of aamco yesterday and and since then it feels like something is holding me back. My truck usually would just coast along really smooth when I let off the gas now it almost feels like I'm braking everytime I let off the accelerator. Could this be due to the fact that I'm used to running all terrain highway tires and now that I've switched to the ko's I get a totally different feel. I expected a change in the way the truck drives but not this type of change. Thanks in advance for your replies.

What exactly did Aamco do to it???

If you switched from Highway tires to Off-Road tires you will definitely feel a change in the way the truck drives... It will handle differently too.

I have a set of 32-11.5-15 Mud King tires that I use basically on off-road trips. The rig struggles to get started and has increased stopping distances. No jackrabbit starts here...If I let off the gas the rig slows down pretty fast. They are down right dangeorus to drive on wet streets. The tread pattern is such that it traps water. It feels like you're driving on ice. But, on dry pavement they drive as smooth as can be and corner just fine..

The fuel mileage suffers too. Not because the speedo is off. Forget calculating it out. You can watch the fuel gauge drop like a brick. GULP GULP. I can make it out to PAP on 1/2 tank with my BFG's but the Mud Kings suk down the whole tank to go the same distance..It's because I have my foot in it to keep moving..

On the street I use 235-70-15 Sport Kings and they handle great ride good and use way less gas...I'm actually looking to buy a set of Street Radials to get the mileage up a bit more.. Swapping the tires out only takes 1/2 hour and it's worth it... Besides if I bend a rim wheeling it's not a dilemma to get it fixed...

I think you have to make sacrifices to achieve your goals. That's why I have two sets of tires it's what works for me....

Off-road tires wear out very quickly too. And you need to rotate them every 3k miles. Ask me how I know this....You can expect 15-20 k miles tops on some of them while others go 50-60 k miles. This is because the rubber compounds are completely different. Off road tires are soft and sticky while street tires are harder and more flexable.

The truck you drive has the worst fuel milesge rating of all suv's too. I know someone who has one and he gets like 12-15 mpg. The 5.9 l is a peeg....
It's comfy but is gonna cost you....

I'm getting like 15-18 MPG with my Jeep and it's killing me...

Ok well I guess that is my problem I have a gauge that calculates my mpg and I noticed a one mpg drop almost a week after I got these tires. I was running goodyear wranglers before. I take it pretty easy on the gas and I'm at 10.3 mpg from 11.4 before the switch. Oh and Aamco did a rebuild a few months ago (after the record snowfall in the city) and I've been in there many times since for the electronics in the tranny. I think it's good to go now this last time it was the trans temp sensor. I came in after they pulled it and they showed me that a prong in it had broken off and all it took to set it off was a bump and I live in the city :lmao: .
