Stumbled across this site and decided to join. I'm from central NJ, in the Bridgewater area. I'm fairly new to Jeeps and even newer to off roading in general. My first car was a 93 Cherokee (which is for sale), but I just upgraded to a 98 TJ SE. I'm looking forward to doing some off roading and some mods to my new TJ. Unfortunately, I cant drive it until I sell the XJ.

Anyway, just wanted to say hi, and hopefully I'll get a chance to meet everyone.

Hey and welcome, dont worry you are not the only new one to 4x4ing in a truck. I am new to it but I have been riding dirtbikes and quads for years. :) Hope to see you the 29th if you are going to attend.

Thanks for the welcoming.

My first mods for the TJ will hopefully be some 31's (I got some pretty wimpy stuff on there right now) and maybe a spacer lift. I've already got most of the basics, tow strap and cb (hopefully to be installed this weekend), just need to get my hands on some front and rear tow hooks.

Thanks for the invite to paragon; I've heard alot about this place and I've been dying to get out there, but I've got a hockey game that day, so I doubt I would be able to make it. Hopefully some other time.

From the most that i have seen with jeeps...the best mod you can do and should be on the top of your list is sway bar quick disconnects. there are a couple of companys out there that make them and they make a HUGE difference. hopefully capengoggles will chime in here.

I got to see my samurai against his jeep with a moderate suspension lift and more aggressive tires then i had. and he had a harder time with some of the obsticals only becuase of the swaybars were making him lift tires and he wasnt getting the traction at the wheels. my samurai at the time was only a 4.5" spring over lift with a z-bar for steering and some bald azz street tires but i was able to climb some stuff only cause mine was a bit more flexy. im sure now he would walk right by me....but i still got a locker to install hahahahaaha check out my rig in the members folder

Yeah, that was another thing I plan on getting in the near future as well. If all goes well, I hope to get some JKS quicker disconnects.

thats cool....another good tip ive found is instead of wireing the CB direct....wire it into a cigerete lighter plug you can get at radio shack. that way when your not on the trails and just around home you can pull it out quick so no one can steal it. ive found the only time i really used mine is either on the trial or drivin for long distances on the highway. around home i dont even turn it on

You can do a cheap way. Which uses your stock sway bar connects but puts a removable pin in.
Try this:

There are tons of tutorials on other sites. Do a search in google.com. Hope this helps!

Welcome to the Board NFaust we think you will enjoy it. We are geared towards wheelin' with local people..

Good luck with your new TJ.

I too have an XJ I'm almost finished with. I can't wait to wheel it either.
