I have a '95 ext. cab Tacoma; 6 cyl auto with the larger factory tires on alloy wheels (all stock). Have not gone off road with it yet, but wonder if a pick-up is trouble on the rails after seeing some of the pics on this site. Seems like it might be too big / too long / too light in the ass. Stock ground clearance good enough ? waddaya think ?

Nah, no problems, Toyota's are great in the woods. Can get a lil tight at times with the length of the bed but I wouldn't worry. Only time I've ever had close calls is when I'm taking an ATV trail with alot of trees. Just throw some weight in the rear of the bed and you'll be fine with traction (I keep my full size 37" spare back there and thats plenty of weight to help with the traction in the rear. Plus I have front and rear lockers so climbing is a piece of cake now but I did have a lil bit of a problem in the snow with steep hills. If you dont have the TRD with e-locker look into picking one up or adding a detroit. With a locker and a lil more weight back there you can go just about anywhere.

Geez man thats alot of Toys.

I only have my 94 truck. I'm actually thinking of looking at the new trucks for a new tow rig.

Guys let me know if you happen to see a 3rdgen X-cab getting stripped. I want to swap cabs. S-cab is just to small.

94krawler, there's an x-cab pickup on njfourwheelers.com for like $400 (I think he said the roof is a lil crushed but must not be that bad because the rear slider, rear windows, and the doors were all okay). If ya wanna take a look at it let me know (I'd be interested inthe doors and a few other lil parts so if you'd wanna go in on it together, take what we need and part out the rest let me know. I just cant justify buying another truck just for the doors and a few other lil parts.

I'm looking for a clean cab, fenders, doors, hood. Hopefully all matching and with the same drivetrain as mine. Kinda want my truck to look decent before I Exo it and least amount of work possible doing the swap LOL.

My truck currently is one big dent and looks like crap.

Did they have pics posted of this truck. Theres one on PAP's forum Red X-cab.

Yeah, its a red x-cab with the nose crunched (hood/fenders) and a dent on the roof. The dent on the roof doesn't look to bad and the rest of the cab is in decent condition.

I've been too jammed up with work to make any decent headway. I can tell you that the gantry I planned to pull the engine with is too damn short. I had to go and buy an engine hoist. It's together and attached to the 3.0 as I type. Too damn many distractions currently...

i got an 83 reg cab pickup, all stock on 31" bald terrains, i got distracted by my zuk project in the middle of fixin the clutch, so it doesn't go anywhere right now, but it should be fun to get it goin, it'll make easy trails exciting again

here's mine...
For this season it'll just be a basic beat-to-heck modded '85.
Just need to replace the headgasket, groove the tires and finish rebuilding the front axle, since one of the old balls lost a trunion and was royally chewed up. Figure between wheeling trips I'll to bob the rear and bend up a cage. I've vowed no big projects until winter but we'll see how long that lasts...
Hopefully the first trip to PAP will be in a few weeks....And, yeah the death-trap stinger is no longer there

22RE->W56 combo
Dual Cases (2.28/4.7)
30-Spline Longs; Hendrix Hub 6Pin Mod; 4340 Inner Hub Gears
ARB'd front/Spooled rear
All-pro 4"ers
325/85R16 XMLs

The passenger side XML is with ~3psi, hopefully with some grooving they will flex a bit better...

Hey guys. looks like this is the place to get some Toy info. my uncle is looking at an 89 pickup, 4 cyl FI 4x4. some minor rust spots, but supposedly it was a florida car that was brought up north a few years ago and given the small amount of rust on the frame I'm inclined to believe them. anyway, I'm gonna look at it tomorrow with him and was hoping you guys could point out some things to look for, ie known trouble spots. supposedly the guy had a new engine swapped in and it looked to my uncle like there were some things missing in the engine bay, ie plugs for sensors that had no mates, etc. supposedly the old engine uses an O2 sensor near the cat and the new one has an extra one on the manifold. the guys showed him a solenoid pack that supposedly was for an electronic 4wd engagement when the truck has locking hubs. is there any truth in these things or is the guys running a line on him? my uncle thought that the engine sounded good however and it fired right up. he drove it around a bit and 4wd does work with the hubs and it seems to move fine. i'm just a little leery about that engine swap. kinda sounds like someone did a half ass job of it to make it work. any thoughts guys?

If you search for paragon in the video section of Google, youtube and putfile you come up with videos from Scott(xtc jpr13) and sebretoothsquirrl. I found one from scott and had to laugh, It started with me pulling up to a large rock and highcentering on it with my diff. :lmao: How the heck did I not see it!

New here too. I have a 2006 Tacoma Double Cab I'm in the process of building up. Hoping to get a Shrockworks bumper and some sliders on this summer. I've done a few minor mods to it to help off road. I have the 4x4 model with OR package so it has the rear locker I've modded to come on whenever I push the button, and I'd like to get an on board air setup (still researching it and trying to save some money).

I have a spacer/AAL lift now so I'm planning on some coilovers like DR's at some point, but since it handles well enough now I think the body armor's a higher priority. Also, as my wife told me "no mud until you get a winch!"

Oh Jesus, I guess they let anyone in here.

I've been lurking for a while now. Figured it's time to jump in.
I've been wheeling my 2006 Tacoma SR5 with a few mods. (Lift/Tires/Diff Breather, etc. nothing too crazy yet)

This is what I got now...

Same chassis as before. Finally swapped a X-cab on, did the Exo and got sick of fixing axles so I swapped in 1 tons.

Mine seem to be holding up. They are already chuncking a little bit. Not too bad though.

The consensus seems to be that they hold up better on the western rocks because those rocks are smoother and have more traction. This granite we have out east that RC is full of eats them up quick. Mine were rounded off completely by the end of last season. They worked great down in Tellico where the rocks are smoother. I rotated them backwards, hopefully they can last until I can get my hands on a set of Maxxis.

I sold my Irok's and beadlocks cause well they sucked... Tire were glued to the beadlocks so the beads wouldnt fall off at 10+PSI anymore. I know chris had this problem also.

I just got new Pitbull maddog's in the 39x14.5x17 flavor. They work awesome so far, I only have 1 run on them though. They are mounted on some regular aluminum wheels and didnt burp at 6psi.
