drove this poor inocent 88 Wrangler home for $800 10/03

then i stripped out the whole drivetrain from the radiator to the lugnuts and started over. I added a Chevy 350/700R4/Atlas II.

Heres the picture when I made the front suspension and bolted in the Dana 60. Its a shackle reversal with wagoneer springs, the front axle was moved foward 2"

Heres the Atlas and the skidplate I made from 1/4" steel. It is also the lower link mount for the rear suspension

4 link suspension with 14 bolt rear axle. The rear axle was moved back 8" bringing the wheelbase to 104"

Here is the suspension finished

Then I towed it to my freinds house to build a rollcage from 2x.120" DOM

Here is the cage after I finished it and painted it. The seats and 5 pt harnesses mount to the cage

This is a crappy picture of the cage bolted on the frame. It mounts solidly to the rock slider outriggers and sandwiches the floor and fenderwells between the plates.

I repainted the tub before I started final assembly

I used a 16 gallon Summit Racing cell

These are the fuel and brake lines I made

Here is the TPI 350

Thats where I am at now. The engine runs fine, the brakes work fine and the trans shifts through all the gears. I'm waiting on driveshafts from High Angle. Once they get in, I can drive it on and off my trailer to take it somewhere and get the exhaust made. Then I need to bring it back, regear both axles and lock the front, drop the cage back in, and mount the 38s. Then I can go wheelin

chris you need some better triangulation in that cage behind the seats that goes lower or she could fold up on you if you fall hard sideways that little X is to small it should go from top to bottom as far as posible especially since you didn't even make a main hoop. but looks good

Oh and add some front to back triangulationmaybe behind the seats so you can get in and out better

First one ??

You cant see in that pic but the X behind the seats goes to the bars along the bed rail, then to a plate on the fenderwell. Theres another plate under that to connect to the frame, I just havent put that tube in yet.

no I saw them but they should go all the way to the floor behind the seats if you want it to be as strong as it can be.

I'm 90% done, just need to regear when the rest of my parts come Wensday, then take care of a few other minor details. After that it's in the woods. I'm shooting to be at the April monthly ride at Paragon
