skip the floor jack and get a 8"x8" rail tie that they use in landscaping. then set the jack on that. concrete blocks under a double layer of plywood works just as well too.

I just need a bigger floor jack in general. Mines way too small for the truck I am going to have. I am good on jack stands :)

actually that was for the jack as well as the stands. for stands i've got a set from TSC that are about a foot taller than the craftsman set. what jack do you have now? the small 2 ton or the bigger 3 ton from craftsman? once you get past the 3 ton, ~20" high range these things get expensive. even on 35's your axle is no more than 16" off the ground (unless you've got portals but that's a whole other ball game) and with that kind of lift all you really need is to get the tires off the ground. the lift provides plenty of room to work under the rig. why drop 500 on a jack that will lift to 30" plus when you can do it with a block of wood?

I have a wimpy little tiny 2 Ton. I guess you can say I need a bigger 3 Ton or alittle larger. Kinda looking for a used one or something? I already use concrete blocks and lots of 2x4s, its getting alittle unstable...

get a 3 ton jack and build yourself an extension for it....basically weld a piece of pipe to a plate with a locater pin just like the original then weld a plate to the top of the pipe and drill a hole in it for the locater on the bottom of the original pad. that way you can get 6" or so more travel and still take it out to use the jack with the stock plate...

its on my list of to-do's

Look at harbor freight. I got one there that goes up to 32" and its a little over $100

just get a jack from walmart its 50 bucks then get 6 ton jackstands the only wau to get longer stands is to go up in load capacity..no such thing as longer 3 tons...use 2 cynder blocks and a peice of plywood on top if thats not tall enough ur jeep better be 50 feet in the air...cause it works great for mine and my bros blazer on 39.5's

Well I dropped the tranny without any fancy floor jack. I had to hold most of it but it was not as bad as I thought. I will pick one up someday :)
