So another XJ alt crapped out today. I didn't even have the satisfaction of destroying it while wheeling, it just stopped charging on the road. Luckily we had one in stock at the shop. When I pick up my 4.0 motor next weekend(which I will be stroking  ) you can be sure that I will be carrying an extra alternator.
Yea, I am picking a used one up on eBay then getting it tested at Auto parts store. Make sure it works :D. Damn XJ alts!

I'll let you know how it goes. It should be pretty easy, I picked up a complete motor with all accessories and fi so I can build it than just drop the complete motor in in a day. I pick it up next weekend than I'll strip it and send the block and head to the machine shop.

thats what i wanna do, is build one from another motor then drop it is, are you going 4.6 or 4.7 sounds like 4.7 by the machine work. When its done lemme know the machine shop specs what you bore it out to and what not, and if you have good luck with the machine shop your using, i cant find any around here so id drive out to the island if they are good.
