this is the perfect opportunity for someone with the smaller 15 gallon tank to upgrade to the larger yj gas tank.
i built this gas tank skid as one of my first welding projects. at the time my jeep had a 3 inch body lift from the previous owner, so i utilized some of that wasted space above the stock tank location to gain some ground clearance below the skid. the bottom of the skid is made from 3/16" steel, the sides are all 1/8" steel, and the mounting tabs are 1/4" steel. i used this skid for about a year, but my jeep now runs on propane so i no longer need the tank or skid.
the skid could use a fresh coat of paint, but isnt in bad shape. you will probably need at least 2" of body lift for this skid to work on your yj. i do not know how much body lift will be necessary for this to fit in your jeep. worst case scenario, you could use some type of spacer to lower the skid an inch or so to make it fit your jeep (or you could cut your floor out in the rear). you will also need to trim your cross member above your axle for this to fit. like i said, i built this to be strong and most importantly to give more ground clearance. pics to follow...
