Wow, looks like a whole lotta fun! Definatly i will be planning on attending the next one.
Can you please email me those pictures? jcxeon@gmail.com
Yea today was a good day. The Jeep made me happy then it all went down hill when I decided I should go play in the mudd. Then I got stuck no biggy. Everyone convinced me to see how deep the other end was. So I go and BAM stuck and sunk again. So for 10 minutes I tried to get myself out while everyone was sitting there looking and probally laughing. But thats was fun got pulled out and no biggy. Truck is COVERED in mudd and who knows what. Not too much inside which is good :). So we go take a look at the damage nothing but lots and lots of mudd. Then we start wheeling around again. Found a nice semi clean not nasty mudd puddle. Hmm lets see if I can CLEAN the Jeep... (smart right?) Then I blew the alternator. On the way back to gas station. SERIOUS death wobble. The track bar bracket broke at the welds we did. So no biggy tighten up the bracket as much as possible. Did that hit 81 BAM nastly vibs then death wobble ( I know now why they call it death wobble...). We finally get back to Scotts house and we pull the alt out and change it and clean the Jeep up. Get the new brand spanking perdy alt in there. Starts right up runs like poop becasue the air filter was nasty and we lost the info on the computer because it was disconnected for atleast a few hours. So I go get back on the road with Tom behind me. All is well until death wobble comes back. Ok tighten up again and we are on our way. Hit 80, death wobble alittle slowed down in time so it was not as sever. We went from East Strousberg PA to my exit (27 if I remeber right?) going east at 48MPH. THANK GOD FOR CRUISE CONTROL!. I limped home with lots of noises of dirt and crap in the brakes. The tracbar is shot, the pos is junk aftermarket garbage that will be replaces with stock one and maybe upgrade. But I have to do brakes, trackbar, and clean out the Jeep. I wont be driving the new Jeep for atleast a week... Not to mention I dont have that much money... :(
The Big THANKS!
I want to thank everyone that was on the trip. Thanks GreenMachine for your WD-40 and being there. I hope you had a good time, and I hope you come on another trip.
Thanks NYWheeler, for EVERYTHING. Thanks for following me back home almost and helping me out so much. You saved lots of frustration. Also thanks for yanking me out. Thank god for that locker eh?
Thanks Sdutter, for riding with me and everything! You also helped out a lot and made things alittle more fun and didnt let me get pissed. Thanks for letting me use your power washer and your driveway for the repairs.
Just an over all Thanks! I really apreciate it, I never thought it would happen to me. Blowing an Alt and all. Damn Jeep people putting that stupid thing on the bottom of the motor, what where they thinking?

justin you cant put a stock trac bar in there, its not gonna be long enough and you will have even more death wobble then you do now, not to mention your front axle will be all fawked get the re adjustable trac both me and matt have them and they have been working fine so far. Oh yea, stay clear of mud, learned that the hardway too, cherokees dont like mud
I really cant afford a $100 trac bar. I was not expecting to put money into this Jeep. I want to see if I can get some used ones first. Grr I am going to be down a couple hundred getting this Jeep back on the road. Have to replace all the exhaust anyway, I found all the exhuast leeks when I went into the deep muddy water...
Heres a nice picture:

get some tubing to slide over the bar you have, slice the bar, sleeve it and weld the sleeve in place to make your bar longer. you can probably find the sleeve in the scrap bin somewhere for a couple bucks.

Hey Justin, nice shot of your XJ. I'm currently building my XJ for some serious trail riding. I was thinking about trying to come up with some sort of shield for the alt after hearing stories about XJ frying them all the time. I think I better get on the ball before I take it out. Cuz I like playing in the mud and water, too. BTW-I got some Super Swamper TSLs on the way, so if anyone needs some like new stock size tires(Dayton Timberlines)on the stock gold lace wheels, let me know. Oh yeah, I also ordered a winch bumper and rocker rails. :wtg:

Justin,
There's supposed to be a large piece of rubber Matting mounted under the engine to protect the engine from mud and debris coming up from underneath. Is yours missing?? I know it won't stop all of the water and mud but it sure will help... Maybe you can find one in the junkward...Mine covers the entire underneath like a blanket..It does work really well........
I was playing in the mud at Centralia and my engine was mudfree and dry after a few runs through it . I was in pretty deep too......

I have the stock one for my Cherokee. But I might need it. Thanks!
Al, do you have your 180 welder? I need to come by and weld my bracket one. Scotts welder didnt penatrate enough. I am going to have him help me weld it again but I want to use yours to burn it better and re do it. Let me know.

Also, if it didnt sell... I want it :D Unless we can get your 130 (I think) to burn enough. I will see what Scott and I can fab.

You'd be amazed at what my 130 can do.
The guy already paid for it. I just dont know if he picked it up.
Scotts is like 140 I think? But we used MIG. If we use flux core it will burn hotter. This time we will weld all around instead of just the bottom. Those bars are under lots of force.

Hey Justin did you check to see which threads got destroyed, was it the rod end or the track bar itself? If its just the rod end than just get a new rod end and a jam nut because the jam nut was not on that track bar.

I have not got to fixing broken stuff yet. Cleaning is first then fix. I will let you know, I hope the threads are not shot, yea I noticed no nut no there too. Peice of crap! But the Jeep survived, everythign this guy installed was done almost wrong. Poopies more work for me. But it still runs like a champ :).
To do:
Clean
fix front end
Tune up
Brakes front and rear...
Oil Change
Change diff fluids
Change T-Case fluids
Change transmission fluids
Clean interior and make it smell nice again :)

you know I have had my jeep for 14 months and I haven't changed my diff fluids or my t-case fluids. how often should I change those, and how difficult is it to do?

Its easy, you should always change all fluids if you go in deep water. I am doing it for that reason and I dont know if it was ever done. Its very easy takes about 30 minutes per diff and t-case is cake.

No mine is not there. I bet the guy who owned it before just ripped it out. I totally forgot that there should be one there. Son of a gun! Oh well everything runs, volts up to par and front brakes are good.
My front driveshaft has lots of squeeks. The CV joint middle part is very dry. I cant seem to find how to greese it. So I am going to pull the u-joints out and slob some greese in there. Should fix it. Hopefully there are no vibs... becuase when I took the shaft out it seemed alittle smoother ride... :(
